New-starter health screening
Following an offer of employment, BHSF Occupational Health can undertake new-starter health screening of new employees before their contract start date. New-starter screening can ensure that you perform your duty of care and comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act (HSAWA) (1974) and Equality Act (2010).
New-starter screening gives you a baseline assessment of an employee's health prior to the commencement of their employment. It ensures that they are fit for work and allows you to make any reasonable adjustments, if required.
When a potential health problem is identified, the occupational health practitioner will agree further action with HR management. In some cases, they may telephone the individual directly to gather further details or, if necessary, arrange a face-to-face assessment. This can be conducted as part of an existing on-site visit, or on a local basis at one of our clinic facilities. This process allows the practitioner to complete their assessment and determine fitness to perform the role, recommending any adjustments that might be appropriate.
Where suitable, baseline medicals can be conducted as part of an ongoing health surveillance medical record for a new employee.
